Mountain Mamas envision clean air for healthy kids and families, clean energy for a bright future, and public lands and open space that allows all of us to enjoy our outdoor quality of life. Like a protective mama bear, we hold elected officials accountable for a sustainable future that gives our kids and families a chance to thrive.
Our climate requires our best fight.
Our public lands must be protected and accessible by all.
Our air must be clean and green.
Outdoor time not only gives children (and Mamas!) exercise and reduces stress, but also stimulates creativity and allows them to develop important executive function and coping skills.
→ More than 100 million Americans don’t have a park within a 10-minute walk, and as a Mama, that is simply unacceptable.
→ Climate change leads to more, and more devastating wildfires, more insect-borne disease, drought, and potential food shortages.
→ Air pollution causes low birth weight, damages children’s still-developing lungs, developmental problems, cancer, and even premature death.
→ Urban sprawl, commerce and drilling claim the equivalent of a football field every 1 minute in the West.
→ Colorado has already warmed 2 degrees in the last 30 years.
We equip women to raise their voices, even if imperfectly, on the issues they care about – be it signing a petition, issuing statements, opinion editorials/letters to the editor, in-person (or Zoom!) lobbying efforts, and connecting as a community to celebrate our wins – on the trail, in the park, or on the water.
We advocate, as one voice, for national and state safeguards that align with our core values of protecting our climate, public lands, and clean air, because we know without strong laws our families’ futures are at risk.
We hold decision makers accountable for their promises, their votes, and their mistakes.
